JALC Elementary - Route 32
Route 32
Students attending Route 32 are between 10 and 13 years of age and require intensive behaviour interventions. Regular schools settings have proved to be unsuitable for them. These students are identified at the district level and are referred to the school by the Elementary District Behaviour Team.
Each student has a detailed Individual Education Program outlining their academic and behavioural goals. Learners at Route 32 have a primary goal of completing the regular grade 6 and 7 academic curriculum. In addition, they receive specific instruction in life skills, appropriate social interactions, bullying awareness and other concepts that affect their social/emotional health. Each Route 32 student has a detailed IEP outlining their academic and behavioural goals. Some of the specific learning activities at Route 32 include the "Stick it to Violence" ice hockey/anger management program, the "Build A Team" baseball program, brain-based learning, and activities focusing on respect and tolerance.
